Awards and exhibitions

Very occasionally I have had the fortune to win a prize in a competition, and also occasionally there have been public exhibitions of my work. There are not many but for what its worth here they are….

1. University of Aberdeen, Wildlife photography competition 2015. Judged by representatives of Scottish Natural heritage. This photo of a praying mantis taken in Beijing was given second prize.

2.  Guangming Eye Art Museum, Guangming district, Shenzhen  (22nd June to 31st August 2023)

An exhibition of bird photos by myself and three other local photographers. This is the poster advertising the exhibition. Probably because it was up during the school holidays it was visited by more than 30,000 visitors.  

When the exhibition ended the museum retained 3 photos for permanent display. One of them was this portrait of a red-whiskered bulbul.

3. Shenzhen Eye photo competition 2023 sponsored by Shenzhen daily.  110 entrants from 33 countries submitted over 1000 pictures. My portfolio of bird pictures came second in the wildlife section!! (plus a very welcome 1000 US dollar prize money)

This photo of a white-throated kingfisher  was part of my portfolio.

4. Wildlife in Shenzhen, Book 2024.  

This image of a red base jezebel butterfly on a purple flower was included into a book of images of Shenzhen wildlife captured in 2024.
